Earlier this summer, I had the privilege of presenting my signature keynote, The Psychology of Connection: Human Skills AI Can’t Replace, at Meeting Professionals International’s World Education Congress (MPI WEC).

Standing in front of an audience made up of meeting professionals from around the world felt especially meaningful because these are the people responsible for creating experiences that bring people together. Their work sits at the intersection of technology, communication, and human connection (which are exactly the themes my keynote experience explores).

The central idea of my presentation is this:

As artificial intelligence becomes more capable, genuine human connection becomes more valuable.

AI can draft emails, summarize meetings, draft presentations, analyze data, and automate countless routine tasks. Those capabilities are already transforming nearly every industry.

But the qualities that make people want to follow a leader, trust a salesperson, or galvanize a team remain deeply human.

Those are the skills AI can’t replace.

What The Psychology of Connection Is Really About

I’m a mentalist with a background in psychology. And although audiences experience mind-reading demonstrations and interactive moments throughout the keynote, the program isn’t about magic.

It’s about understanding how and why people connect.

Using live demonstrations of perception, communication, and influence, I show audiences how subtle changes in the way we listen, communicate, and connect dramatically affect the way others respond to us.

Rather than simply talking about trust, influence, or communication, audiences experience these principles firsthand. These performance elements become memorable metaphors that make the lessons stick. And they make the keynote extremely memorable as well. The kind of session attendees talk about long after the conference ends.

The goal isn’t simply to entertain.

It’s to help people become better communicators, stronger leaders, and more connected teammates.

Why This Message Matters Right Now

We’re living through one of the biggest technological shifts in modern history.

Organizations are investing heavily in AI to improve efficiency and productivity.

But technology doesn’t replace relationships.

In fact, the more AI and technology driven our work becomes, the more important human skills become.

The ability to build trust quickly, communicate with authenticity, and create meaningful relationships is becoming a genuine competitive advantage.

That’s why this keynote resonates with leadership teams, sales organizations, associations and companies navigating rapid change.

Technology is changing the way we work.

Human connection determines how well we work together.

Looking Ahead

I’m grateful to MPI for the opportunity to share this message with so many event professionals who are shaping the future of meetings and conferences.

It’s always rewarding to see audiences leave not only entertained, but with practical ideas they can immediately apply in their work and relationships.

As technology continues to evolve, I believe one thing will remain true:

The organizations that thrive won’t simply be the ones using the best AI.

They’ll be the ones that never lose sight of the people behind it.
