Lachlan Patterson’s AGT audition got a unanimous yes from all four judges this season, with a set built around two things everyone deals with: bad passwords and the low-grade panic of getting scammed online. Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Mel B, and Sofía Vergara all voted him through, and Howie’s only complaint was that the set ended too soon.
What Lachlan Patterson Did in His AGT Audition
The set stayed close to the ground. No wild premise, no prop comedy, just a comedian talking about the specific, current frustration of managing a dozen different password rules and half-trusting every email that shows up asking him to “verify his account.” It’s the kind of material that works because everyone in the room has lived some version of it recently.
Lachlan built the bit with a light touch, letting the audience get ahead of him rather than over-explaining the setup. That’s part of what makes the segment worth watching in full rather than just reading about: the timing and the small asides carry as much of the joke as the premise itself.
How the Judges Reacted
All four judges said yes, and the commentary afterward leaned positive rather than polite. Howie Mandel specifically noted he wanted more, which is a different kind of praise than a standard pass. America’s Got Talent auditions get cut down heavily for TV, so a judge asking for a longer set is a real signal about how the room responded live.
