Fish Sticks has been at the forefront of developing and delivering online, improv experiences that cause people to laugh out loud – no small feat when most or all of the audience is stuck at home. The key has been an emphasis on connection, and the Sticks’ approach leads to a show that feels more together than you might have imagined possible.

The Content and Flow of the Online Improv Show

Most of our online shows have been 45 – 60 minutes in length. That allows for approximately 4 – 6 games – our term for the scenes and the sketches that we do. For audiences under 1,000 (give or take) getting suggestions is usually done through the chat box. If there is more than that, we suggest getting suggestions in advance for a variety of reasons that we’re happy to share. Those suggestions are the inspiration that the improvisers will use for the games. So our audiences have a role in each and every component of the show.

We can also involve volunteers by bringing them up on screen. We can select volunteers during the course of the show, but generally recommend that volunteers be pre-selected to confirm that they have appropriate tech (webcam, audio, internet speed) to make the experience seamless.
